Job Title: Emergency Care Practitioner

Join our team at Greenwich Health Ltd as an Emergency Care Practitioner and be part of a diverse team providing assessment, diagnostics, diagnosis, treatment, advice, and referrals.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dual role, providing expert advice and second opinions for patients seen and treated by junior members of staff in the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). You will also be responsible for responding to 111 referrals and visiting patients at their homes to provide care.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Take responsibility for the patients assigned through the NHS 111 referral process.
  • Perform assessment of patients' needs, plan, implement, and evaluate clinical treatment and care using advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Be able to discuss with patients and carers the range of possible treatment/management options and their implications before treatment decisions are made.
  • Instigate and implement clinical management and treatment changes when appropriate.
  • Contribute to specific care guidelines and standards supporting the care of patients across the health economy.
  • Implement Health and Safety and Risk Management appropriate to the area of work.
  • Deliver aspects of the Clinical Governance Agenda, following the direction of the Clinical Leadership.
  • Contribute to and manage various elements of auditing in the OOH HV service.
Communication and Relationship Skills
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills when working with the internal team as well as external, particularly our practices and the hospital trust.
  • Be able to identify and take into consideration barriers to understanding and employ appropriate methods to ensure effective communication, particularly where barriers are clinical in nature.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and carers.
  • Be aware of the procedures to follow if concerned regarding the protection of children.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines for self and others.
  • Hold good relationship-building skills to develop strong relationships with key individuals within practices and the local healthcare system.
  • Have the ability to successfully make appropriate in-hospital specialty referrals.
Requirements
  • Nursing, Paramedic, or equivalent qualification.
  • Triage/Clinical Assessment Qualification.
  • Independent prescribing qualification.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.
  • In-depth therapeutic and clinical knowledge and understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare.
  • Recent post-registration experience in clinical assessment.
  • A background in ED, Urgent Care, or Emergency Care.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information in an understandable form to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and negotiating skills.
  • Demonstrates accountability for delivering professional expertise and direct service provision.
  • Qualified Emergency Care Practitioner (Minor Injuries and Minor illnesses Level 6 or above).
  • Mandatory registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council, HCPC, or other relevant professional body.
  • Self-motivation.
  • Adaptable.
