Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Pathway team, providing high-quality assessment and formulation for young people in mental health crisis.

About the Role
  • Crisis Liaison: Respond to children and young people presenting in mental health crisis at local general hospitals using a psychiatric liaison model.
  • Crisis Community: Respond to children and young people who present in crisis within their communities that have been referred in.
  • Home Treatment: Provide an intense community approach to avoid hospital admission and provide step-down support when discharged from mental health inpatient units.
  • ITASC: Assess and liaise with professionals for children and young people who have experienced multiple and complex trauma.

You will be well-supported by your line manager and the dedicated team, with opportunities for professional development and training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as an Occupational Therapist on the CAMHS Crisis and HTT pathway, focusing on home treatment and therapeutic intervention.
  • Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and reports regarding children and young people's daily living skills and occupational performance.
  • Demonstrate effective skills in assessing and managing risk, communicating concerns accurately, and supporting colleagues on the CAMHS Duty Response rota.
  • Keep up to date with safeguarding training and policies.
  • Co-facilitate therapeutic groups for identified children and young people.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, formulate plans, assess and manage risk, and provide interventions using various therapeutic modalities.

This role may require you to travel across Plymouth and work flexible hours.

Person Specification
  • Minimum of two years' experience as an Occupational Therapist working in Mental Health or Paediatrics.
  • Experience of supporting children and young people with complex social emotional, neurodevelopmental, and/or learning disabilities.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation.

The estimated salary for this role is £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. For a candidate with more than 5 years of experience, we estimate £52,500 per year. The exact salary will depend on the individual's qualifications and experience.
