About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Developer to join our team and contribute to the development of our Climate Observation Databases. As a Developer in this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing modern solutions to improve the efficiency and resilience of our observations quality management systems.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Develop, own, and maintain software to meet the needs of the Observations Quality Management team.
  2. Collaborate with the team to determine what needs to be developed to enable product delivery and build solutions to meet these requirements.
  3. Support and maintain the existing processes and data feeds within the Climate Observations Database (MIDAS).

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  2. Expertise in programming languages, frameworks, and tools, primarily PL/SQL and Python.
  3. Proven experience working with Oracle databases to develop new operational services and products.
  4. Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to develop requirements and use this information to deliver software that accurately meets user needs.
  5. Supporting time-critical services and responding quickly to problems.

What We Offer

  1. Annual salary of £33,794 plus an annual Recruitment Retention Allowance of £2,200.
  2. Outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%.
  3. Annual Leave starting at 25 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 30 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years, with the option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave.
