About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join our team at Hays Senior Finance. As a key member of our finance function, you will play a critical role in providing financial leadership and support to our business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts and other financial reports as required.
  • Develop and implement financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • Oversee all regulatory functions, including VAT returns and EC sales lists, to ensure compliance with current legislation.
  • Manage and coordinate financial audits to ensure timely and accurate completion.
  • Lead the management of daily accounts routines, including journals, bank transactions, prepayments, accruals, and fixed asset register maintenance.
  • Develop and implement strong controls for stock management and ensure timely and controlled supplier payments.
  • Drive cost savings and efficiency initiatives through collaboration with budget holders.
  • Line manage accounts payable staff and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Support senior managers with financial guidance and reporting.
  • Oversee and manage credit control processes.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll and pensions administration for UK and overseas employees.
  • Liaise with external accountants, bankers, and parent company as required.
  • Support staff with Sage50 access and training.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of financial systems and processes.

Requirements

  • Excellent proficiency in Excel and Sage Line 50.
  • Strong finance and business experience, with a structured and organized approach.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a small, flexible, and dynamic team environment.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Energy, flexibility, enthusiasm, persistence, and commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent).
  • Line management skills and experience.
  • Business law appreciation, particularly commercial contracts and HR-related.
  • International trade experience.
  • Previous experience in a similar role and industry.
