Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Medical Services (EMS) instructor to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during the summer semester.

About the Position

This is an adjunct faculty position that contains no guarantee of continued employment. Instruction may be during the day, evening, or weekend. The successful candidate will teach classes such as Emergency Medical Technician, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Critical Care, Mobile Integrated Healthcare, and Tactical Emergency Medical Support.

Responsibilities
  1. Design and delivery of instruction for day and evening classes.
  2. Responsible for student assessment and grading.
  3. Maintains adequate on-campus presence.
  4. Provides timely communication with students, staff and administrators of the College.
Qualifications

The minimum qualifications for this position include:

  1. Current National Registry certification at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level or Virginia certification at the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) level.
  2. A passion for the discipline and a commitment to a student-centered philosophy in support of academic excellence for diverse groups of learners.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills in communication with students, colleagues, staff and administrators as an individual or as a part of a team.
  4. A willingness to serve the needs of traditional and non-traditional students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups.
  5. The ability to modify when appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs.
  6. Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize documented student learning.
  7. Adept at adopting methods that fairly measure student progress toward student learning outcomes.
  8. Evaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learning.
  9. Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters to division administrator each semester according to established deadlines.
  10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Experience and/or strong interest in teaching and inspiring adult learners to fulfill the College's mission to change lives and empower students to succeed.
  12. Able to work at all campus locations.
Estimated Salary Range

$45,000 - $60,000 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
