Join GMFRS as a Firefighter

We are seeking expressions of interest from Wholetime competent Firefighters and Area Managers currently employed by a UK Local Authority Fire Service on a Wholetime contract. This is an opportunity to transfer to Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service and be considered for any upcoming Inter-Service Transfer or Promotion Pathway processes.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Demonstrable competence as a permanent Wholetime rank (FF-AM) within a UK Fire and Rescue Service throughout the last two years.
  • Operational awareness or competence at current rank.
  • Currently not under any live sanctions, capability, performance, or disciplinary procedures.
  • Willingness and ability to be posted to and work from any location within the Greater Manchester boundary.
  • Driving license (Category B) with access to own vehicle.

Key Information:

  • All Wholetime applicants must be conditioned to a permanent wholetime duty system, working an average of 42 hours per week.
  • This is NOT an IST or Promotional Pathway application form. By expressing your interest, we will contact you as soon as either of these application processes opens.
