Small Ferry Engineer

Job Summary:
CalMac Ferries Limited is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marine Engineer to join our team as a Small Ferry Engineer. This is a permanent position responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our vessels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Comply with company management systems and regulations, including the International Safety Management (ISM) Code.
- Familiarize yourself with vessel machinery and equipment, as well as emergency procedures and operations.
- Ensure main and auxiliary machinery maintenance is up-to-date and in accordance with the maintenance system.
- Dispose of waste and oil sludge in the correct manner and document as necessary.
- Report technical problems or breakdowns affecting vessel operation.
- Ensure machinery spaces, accommodation spaces, and vehicle decks are correctly lit.
- Verify safety systems, such as fire detection, fire extinguishing, fire main, and pump, are functioning correctly.
- Ensure Engine Room and machinery spaces are safe working areas.
- Communicate with the Technical Superintendent's office for assistance with repairs.
- Maintain machinery space bilges in a clean condition and investigate any accumulation of oil or water.
- Assist in preparing work lists for overhaul periods.
- Sign for and take responsibility for any tools supplied to the vessel.
- Ensure machinery spaces and voids are maintained in a clean, tidy, and well-painted condition.
- Requisition emergency stores and spares.

- Valid STCW Chief Engineer III/2
