Ferry Engineer Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Small Ferry Engineer to join our team at CalMac Ferries Limited. As a Small Ferry Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our ferries, including maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:- Comply with the requirements of the Company Management System (ISM Code) and ensure that all machinery and equipment are properly maintained and serviced.
- Familiarize yourself with the machinery and equipment, emergency procedures, and operation of same.
- Ensure that main and auxiliary machinery maintenance is kept up to date in accordance with the maintenance system.
- Dispose of waste and oil sludge in the correct manner and document as necessary in the Oil Record Book.
- Report all technical problems or breakdowns affecting the operation of the vessel.
- Ensure that machinery spaces, accommodation spaces, and vehicle deck are correctly lit.
- Ensure that safety systems, such as fire detection, fire extinguishing, fire main, and pump, function correctly.
- Ensure that Engine Room and machinery spaces are safe working areas.
- Communicate with the Technical Superintendent's office to arrange assistance from the Workshops or outside organizations for repairs.
- Maintain the machinery space bilges in a clean condition and investigate any accumulation of oil or water.
- Assist in the preparation of work lists for overhaul periods.
- Sign for and take responsibility for any tools supplied to the vessel.
- Ensure that machinery spaces and voids are maintained in a clean, tidy, and well-painted condition.
- Requisition emergency stores and spares as needed.
