Job Title: Global Legal Counsel

Company: Guinness World Records

The Global Legal Counsel will provide legal advice and support on a range of commercial, IP, and compliance matters. The role will involve drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and advising on various agreements relating to GWR's commercial clients, publishing, TV production, trademark and copyright licensing, and live events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting, negotiating, reviewing, and advising on commercial contracts, copyright, and trademarks.
  • Providing advice on general legal matters, including intellectual property, data privacy, commercial, and contract law.
  • Using GWR's systems to produce and modify standard documents.
  • Pursuing trademark and copyright infringements and instructing GWR's online service provider in this respect.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of GWR's global trademark portfolio.
  • Assisting in management of litigation matters.
  • Managing documents and information on internal systems.
  • Assisting with implementation of company policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with GWR's global head of legal and members of GWR's legal team beyond London.
  • Working from GWR's London office at least two days each week.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Qualified in the UK or in another common law jurisdiction.
  • 5 years' PQE.
  • Good drafting and negotiating skills.
  • Experience of commercial contracts, copyright, and trademarks.
  • Knowledge of and interest in the digital, creative, and media sectors.
  • A self-starter able to juggle competing demands.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, curious, and a team player.
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills would be desirable, but not essential.
