We are working with a vibrant SEND school in Wakefield that is searching for an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support their pupils with a range of additional needs.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in the development and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) for pupils.
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students, ensuring their specific needs are met both inside and outside the classroom.
- Collaborate with the teaching staff to deliver tailored lessons and learning activities.
- Use a range of communication strategies to support children with varying needs, including those with autism, speech and language difficulties, and physical disabilities.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Offer emotional and behavioural support to pupils, fostering their confidence and independence.
- Prior experience working with children or young people with SEND in an educational setting is essential.
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced school environment and think on your feet.
- Understanding of different SEND conditions and how they affect learning.
