About the Role

The School of Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and motivated researcher to join our team as an Assistant or Associate Professor in Measurement or Precision Engineering. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to our research activities, broaden our expertise, and enhance our teaching aims.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a relevant discipline and a strong background in precision engineering, metrology, solid mechanics, quantum techniques, measurement, instrumentation, and non-destructive testing. They will be expected to initiate, develop, and deliver high-quality research, publish top-tier journal papers, and demonstrate potential for impact from their research.

We are looking for someone who can complement existing activity in the School or establish new activity, with consideration given to alignment with existing research facilities. The appointee will also contribute to teaching to the highest quality in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the School of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality research in Measurement or Precision Engineering
  • Publish research findings in top-tier journals
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students
  • Develop and deliver novel teaching methods

Requirements:

  • PhD in a relevant discipline
  • Strong background in precision engineering, metrology, etc.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Salary: £46,485 - £65,814 per annum.
