About the Role


We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Waterway Operative to join our team at the Canal & River Trust.


Responsibilities



  • Conduct water control duties, including the operation of structures such as locks and bridges, to ensure safe passage for customers.
  • Undertake key duties associated with the maintenance of the waterway and waterside, including towpath litter removal and repair.
  • Provide a first response for any emergencies or incidents that may occur within the waterway.
  • Support asset inspections and identify any structure failures or breaches.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the West Midlands waterway network by undertaking vegetation management activities.

Requirements



  • A good understanding of customer engagement and service principles.
  • Experience of working in a relevant environment, such as customer service or outdoor visitor services.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
  • A valid driving license.
