Assistant Estates Operations Manager

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Operational Estates Decontamination Unit Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for managing the engineering and building maintenance services, including first-line day-to-day management responsibility for providing an efficient, effective, and patient-focused maintenance and repair service within allocated budgets.
Main Responsibilities- Manage the Queensway Sterile Services Department team of 3 Engineers carrying out routine decontamination equipment and building service maintenance.
- Act as Authorised Person/Responsible Officer in relation to specific maintenance responsibilities decontamination, medical gases, specialised ventilation, electrical safety, water safety.
- Maintain, operate, and review Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) programmes and ensure that buildings, plant, and equipment are maintained to the appropriate NHS and statutory standards.
- Continuously review and revise operational procedures and working practices.

The estates department is a small team of dedicated multiskilled engineers, and the dynamic is often routine but can also be fast-paced and no two days are the same.
Requirements- Professional knowledge acquired through degree and specialist training, or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through City and Guilds Engineering courses, with demonstrable supplementary technical and management experience.
- Accredited Health and Safety training NEBOSH Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent.
- Suitable IT Skills MS Word & Excel /CAFM Micad.
- Committed to continuous management/professional development Authorised Person training to develop competence in areas such as Electrical/Water Safety.
- Certificate/Diploma in Management Studies or equivalent.
- Possess or working towards Chartered Status or membership of a professional Institution, such as IHEEM.
- Experience of managing hospital engineering systems in healthcare premises, and HTM requirements.
- Significant experience of managing organisational change and service improvement in a Trade Unionised environment.
