Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Research Manager to provide maternity cover for the post at the Havens. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of the Havens' research and service evaluation portfolio.

Main Responsibilities
  • Research and Havens-wide Coordination
    • Develop and implement research-related policies and strategies, ensuring compliance with Trust policy and relevant legislation.
    • Review and assess the quality of study protocols, providing guidance on ethics procedures and ensuring confidentiality in data management.
    • Oversee and ensure timely reporting to stakeholders, grant funders, clinical research networks, and project partners.
    • Maintain accurate records of current and past research projects, communicating regularly with project leads.
    • Build and maintain relationships with survivors' groups, service users, voluntary organizations, and academic partners.
    • Provide day-to-day line management of research assistants, students, and/or trainee doctors.
    • Manage project budgets and resources, reporting to the Service Manager.
  • Education and Training
    • Contribute to project publications with internal and external partners.
    • Create and deliver presentations on Havens research at conferences and events.
    • Deliver research-related workshops to Havens staff as part of their continuous professional development.
    • Participate in the development of a research section on the Havens website and lead on the design of publicly available materials.
    • Provide leadership on dissemination events and public engagement with the Havens research portfolio.
    • Support the training of junior research staff where necessary.
    • Prepare quarterly reports for the Havens Education Audit Research Training meeting.
    • Contribute to the planning and organization of research-related events, conferences, and continuous professional development mornings.
    • Identify opportunities for learning and development and invite relevant speakers to present research findings to Havens staff.
    Requirements
    • A master's or other higher degree in a health-relevant domain.
    • Training/education in a field relevant to sexual violence, health, and/or community-based research.
    • Knowledge of research governance.
    • Project management qualification or training.
    • Experience developing study protocol and research policies.
    • Knowledge of research ethics and delivering research in a clinical environment.
    • Experience conducting literature searches and evaluating quality of academic articles and journals.
    • Knowledge of NHS safeguarding policies and procedures.
    • Experience delivering research-related training to junior staff.
    • Experience or knowledge of budget management and of financial controls.
    • Experience of conducting interviews or focus groups.
    • Ability to negotiate with and motivate research team, project partners, and study participants.
    • Ability to work on own initiative and with minimal supervision.
    • Computer literacy, including word processing, Excel, SPSS (and/or other data analysis package(s) and NVivo).
    • Writing research/progress reports and grant applications.
