Job Title: Oncology Nurse Advisor

We are seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse Advisor to join our team at the NHS. As an Oncology Nurse Advisor, you will play a vital role in providing specialist advice and support to cancer patients, their carers, and community doctors and nurses.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide telephone triage assessments for calls to the acute oncology management service.
  • Liaise with all services involved in the patient's cancer journey, promoting a healthy work-life balance and a supportive culture.
  • Communicate with patients and/or their carers regarding their care management, dealing with highly sensitive information requiring sympathy and reassurance.
  • Ensure effective communication between patients, their families, and the healthcare team to maintain continuity of care.
  • Deputise for and support the Acute Oncology Team Leader in managing the service.
Requirements:
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing Studies.
  • Post Registration Certificate in Oncology/Haematology or equivalent experience.
  • Palliative Care Training.
  • Management Training.
  • Advanced Communication Skills Training.
  • UKONS acute oncology passport.
Desirable Skills:
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Ability to deliver a high quality of care.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage heavy workloads and complete tasks effectively.
  • SACT administration.
  • Advanced life support.
