Automation Engineer Job Description

Samuel Frank Associates is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join their team in Cumbria. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the engineering team with PLC and systems fault finding, rectifying system and PLC faults, and identifying root causes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the engineering team with PLC and systems fault finding
  • Rectify system and PLC faults and identify root causes
  • Responsibility for site electrical drawings and schematics
  • Support the engineering team in delivering Continuous Improvement projects and process improvements
  • Assess risks in relation to control systems and necessary contingencies for failure or upgrade
  • Creation of new PLC programs and software updates when required
  • Support the maintenance team in maintaining the plant and equipment to agreed standards

Requirements:

  • Experience in PLC programming and fault finding
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and control systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills
