Job Summary

The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Digital Infrastructure Server Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing, supporting, and maintaining the hospital's server and storage infrastructure.

As a key member of our Digital Infrastructure team, you will work closely with other specialists to ensure that our infrastructure is secure, resilient, and highly available. You will also contribute to the development of new systems and help maintain existing information systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide lead technical expertise in Linux server support and assist with Windows Server support.
  • Provide technical expertise for VMware, VMware Horizon, and SAN/NAS storage.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery plans for server and storage infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage processes for backup and recovery of infrastructure systems.
  • Use scripting to automate routine tasks and document scripts for colleagues.
  • Maintain daily monitoring systems for server and storage infrastructure components.
  • Document servers and storage systems, including physical and logical implementation, admin and service accounts, security controls, applications installed, and dependencies.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent qualifications or experience.
  • Extensive experience working in an Infrastructure server and storage role within a virtualised environment.
  • Experience supporting complex server and storage infrastructures on Windows and Linux Platforms, including server clustering.
  • Advanced working knowledge of VMWare vSphere and vCentre, Active Directory, and/or LDAP/Radius, DFS, GPO, FSMO, PKI, CA.
  • Ability to produce complex scripts, preferably PowerShell, batch files.

We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition, you will receive a comprehensive benefits package, including pension scheme, life assurance, and annual leave entitlement.
