About the Role

GFG is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a Mechanical Maintenance Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our rolling mill and associated plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and follow routine planned maintenance schedules to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime.
  • Report on maintenance activities and respond to breakdowns in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to achieve departmental objectives and targets.
  • Ensure high standards of health and safety, identifying and developing safety initiatives within the team.
  • Develop and initiate process improvements within the team to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Assess self-performance and develop, implement, and review training plans to ensure individual optimum performance.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team and between other teams.
Requirements
  • Recognized Mechanical apprenticeship (HNC/ONC level or equivalent) and relevant industry experience.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical aspects of a rolling mill and associated plant and equipment.
  • Basic hydraulic, welding, and pipefitting skills.
  • Previous experience in mechanical maintenance of handling equipment, pumps, and pipework systems.
  • Previous experience in PPM and reporting of PPM activities and breakdowns.
  • Previous experience in maintenance of Gearbox's and coupling systems.
  • Experience in working in confined spaces and at heights.
  • A good understanding and knowledge of Health Safety Legislation with experience of adhering to SWP's, risk assessments, procedures, and permit systems.
  • Good level of problem-solving awareness with an ability to fault-find pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in crane maintenance.
