Job Summary

Kent County Council is seeking a skilled Social Worker to join our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children's Service. As a Social Worker in this role, you will be responsible for providing support and care to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in Kent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to newly arrived unaccompanied asylum-seeking children and provide them with support and care
  • Ensure the voice of the child is heard and their needs are met
  • Work with children in care, manage child protection concerns, and engage in interagency working with key partners
  • Develop skills in age assessments, working with children in care, and managing child protection concerns
  • Participate in the National Transfer Scheme and work with other Local Authorities
  • Consider family reunifications and explore the possibility of reunifying children with their families in the UK

Requirements

  • Command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements
  • Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service
  • Registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England
