Sterile Services Technician

About the Role
The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Services Technician to join our team in the Sterile Services department. As a Sterile Services Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care by maintaining the cleanliness and sterility of medical instruments and devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, receive, check, and wash all surgical instruments/medical devices from clinical areas.
- Deliver and collect clean and used Endoscopes from local sites using Trust vehicle.
- Check and assemble medical devices across the full range of surgical specialties using Departmental Standard Operating Procedures with speed and accuracy prior to sterilization.
- Provide and receive routine information and work co-operatively with colleagues in exchanges of information.
- Carry out all duties in accordance with Departmental Policies.
- Demonstrate activities to new staff during their training.
- Organize and manage own day-to-day work tasks and make judgments on job-related facts and situations.
- Work within the departmental quality management system, ensuring accurate record-keeping and written processes are followed correctly.
- Visit wards and departments to requisition and deliver sterile supplies and cover when necessary the delivery of External customers packs.
- Store and rotate sterile packs in the Sterile Store to ensure rapid turnover.
- Put up stock for customers outside of The Trust.
- Aware of the Health & Safety at Work Act, ensuring that as an employee, the provisions of the Act are met.
- Comply with the Trust's Immunisation Policy, which includes immunisation against Hepatitis B.
Person Specification
- Good general education at GCSE Level or equivalent.
- Packaging and assembly and/or customer services experience.
- Working in a Hospital environment.
- Previous experience of working with a Quality Management system using Standard operating procedures.
