Transforming Public Services with Data Science

DWP Digital is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead the development of data-driven solutions that improve the customer journey and outcomes for millions of people. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating cutting-edge, data-driven solutions that harness the power of data to drive critical public service transformation.

About the Role

You will work closely with multidisciplinary development teams to design and deliver new features for the PIP and Health Assessment services. Your expertise in datasets and data science techniques will ensure that any development is supported by data, helping to improve outcomes for claimants and DWP colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of data-driven solutions that improve public services
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver new features
  • Apply data science techniques to solve business problems and improve processes
  • Communicate results to a range of audiences, translating technical concepts into non-technical language where necessary
  • Build team capability through role modelling, mentoring and coaching

Requirements

  • Academic background in Data Science, Maths, Statistics or Computer Science
  • Significant experience delivering innovative, data-driven solutions and applying a range of data science techniques
  • Ability to explore, combine and transform data from across disparate sources
  • Experience of building team capability and stakeholder management
