BNY Mellon is seeking a highly skilled Counsel EMEA Markets Legal: Clearance & Collateral Management to join our EMEA Markets Legal team. This exciting opportunity is located in London or Manchester – hybrid.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide legal advice and support to our EMEA Markets Clearance and Collateral Management team, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing timely and effective legal advice to business partners on new products and product development;
  • Negotiating documents to ensure compliance with all policies and procedures;
  • Building relationships with business managers to ensure understanding of contractual obligations and identify areas for improvement;
  • Maintaining an understanding of existing and proposed regulatory requirements, trends, and best practices for EMEA and the US;
  • Supporting the instruction and management of external counsel, including assistance with analysis and collation of advice;
  • Assisting with the development of formal training sessions for business colleagues on relevant topics.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have circa 5-7 years PQE with a legal background in institutional/wholesale banking and specifically trading, derivatives, securities financing transactions, and markets-related disciplines. Expertise in collateral management, custody, or prime brokerage is desirable, as is familiarity with clearing and settlement activities, in-house legal and transactional banking operational experience, and experience with trading and derivative products.
