About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Specialist to join our team at Buckinghamshire Council. As an Education Specialist, you will play a key role in providing advice, guidance, and support to families who have chosen to home educate their children.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to families on home education, including planning and implementing educational programs.
  • Conduct regular visits to parents and children in their homes to ensure that the education provided is suitable under the terms of Section 7 of the Education Act 1996.
  • Develop and maintain accurate electronic pupil information records.
  • Travel throughout the county to provide support and advice to families.
  • Collaborate with schools, social care, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive support system for families.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive knowledge of education systems, practice, and teaching.
  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to Elective Home Education.
  • Several years' experience as a teacher, with a strong understanding of special educational needs and safeguarding.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families, schools, and other professionals.
