Critical Care Outreach Specialist
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Critical Care Outreach Nurse to join our team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our critical care outreach team, you will play a vital role in providing expert support and assistance to acutely and critically ill patients outside the critical care unit.
As a Critical Care Outreach Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to work collaboratively with ward-based teams to identify patients who require critical care support and develop comprehensive plans to ensure their safe transfer to the intensive care unit or other relevant areas of care. You will also participate in education and training programs for all staff members to enhance their knowledge and skills in critical care nursing.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse with extensive experience in critical care/acute settings to expand their clinical skills and work autonomously within a supportive and progressive team. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across both hospital sites (12-hour shifts with internal rotation of nights and weekends).
A competitive salary package is available for this position, including a basic salary of £41,890 - £56,092 per annum, depending on experience. Additional benefits include 27 days annual leave, a generous pension scheme, and access to a range of training and development opportunities.
To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in critical care nursing, with excellent communication and teamwork skills. You should also possess a high level of adaptability and flexibility, as well as the ability to work effectively under pressure.
The ideal candidate will be registered with the NMC and hold a valid Critical Care course certification or equivalent. A Master's degree in Nursing or a related field would be advantageous, as would any experience in quality improvement or research projects.
