About the Role

The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to join our team as a Specialist Haemoglobinopathy Midwife. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and innovative environment, providing specialist care to patients with haemoglobinopathies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, specialist midwifery care to patients with haemoglobinopathies, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
  • Provide genetic counselling and risk assessment to patients and their families.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care and support for patients.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with community groups and healthcare providers to promote awareness and education about haemoglobinopathies.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years of midwifery experience post-qualification.
  • Education to diploma/degree level.
  • Holds a full driving license and has access to a car.
  • Evidence of good communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in antenatal and newborn screening programmes.
  • Community midwifery experience.
  • Genetic risk assessment and counselling qualification in haemoglobinopathies.
  • Good computer skills and experience with EMIS and HIVE EPR systems.
