Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Practice Nurse to join our team at West Common Lane Teaching Practice. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our clinical team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Deliver practice nursing services to the practice population, focusing on supporting patients with long-term conditions, health prevention, and wound care.
  • Work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.
  • Undertake audits as required, including infection control, and follow agreed clinical protocols.
  • Develop the skills of the Nurse Associate and Health Care Assistant.
  • Perform basic nursing duties, such as venepuncture and ECGs, and maintain accurate records.

West Common Lane Teaching Practice is a busy teaching practice with a list size of approximately 8000 patients. Our nursing team comprises of 3 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Practice Nurse, and a vacancy, a Nurse Associate, 3 Health Care Assistants. We pride ourselves on providing an inclusive, helpful, and friendly working environment.

Person Specification

  • Registered first-level nurse with experience of working within a nursing team.
  • Ability to work independently within boundaries.
  • Desirable: experience of working in primary care/GP surgery and evidence of continuous academic development.
