The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team in the Supporting Children and Families theme at the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) North East and North Cumbria.

As a researcher in this role, you will contribute to the delivery of ongoing projects in children and families, and develop new projects aligning to your own research interests. You will work closely with our team to design, implement, and evaluate research studies, and disseminate findings through publications and presentations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the delivery of ongoing projects in children and families, and develop new projects aligning to your own research interests.
  • Develop projects relating to maternity, infants, children, and families.
  • Carry out research within agreed timelines, meeting project milestones and to an appropriate standard.
  • Attend meetings and other events appropriate to the projects.
  • Prepare papers for publication and disseminate findings at conferences and meetings as required.
  • Support supervision of undergraduate and masters student dissertations.
  • Identify and undertake a programme of professional development, including further training in research methods and other transferable skills.
  • Carry out administrative tasks and other duties to support the management of the SCF theme and the NIHR ARC as required by the Director.
The Person

We are looking for a researcher with a strong background in qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods research, including data collection and analysis. You will have evidence of ability to co-author peer-reviewed publications, and experience of working on applied health research projects relating to children and families.

You will also have the ability to communicate to a range of audiences using a range of presentation approaches, and be able to work flexibly with regard to hours of work, including occasional evenings, and travel across the region.
