The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking a Quality Control Technician to be responsible for completing routine product quality checks of HPLC columns and a range of in-house manufactured separation media, ensuring that all finished products meet the required specifications.
This role will be a full-time position based out of our Hichrom, Theale/Reading site.
The Team:
The Quality Control Technician is part of a team of 6.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma
- Experience: Previous quality control experience (lab or food related)
- Good understanding of COSHH would be beneficial
- Understanding of ISO9001 / 14001
- Working knowledge of chromatography desired but not essential
- Keen attention to detail
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to work independently
- Must be aware of the general hazards in a laboratory
- Collaboration Tools: SAP & MS office package
Key Responsibilities:
- Submission of goods for final QC checks prior to dispatch to the customer
- Conducting OOS investigations where products fail to meet defined specifications
- Conduct analytical QC performance tests, of in-house manufactured separation media, to ensure lot to lot reproducibility, including pore size, surface area, and particle sizing
- Performing routine maintenance and validation activities
- To ensure both your own and your colleague's safety, by working in accordance with all relevant Production and Environmental, Health & Safety procedures, promptly reporting any incidents or accidents to a manager.
- Follow process procedures diligently and give feedback for process improvements.
- Any other tasks as required.
- Some physical effort is required through walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 5kg. Some degree of lifting and heavy work is likely with the daily movement of equipment, machinery and supplies.
- The role involves working with hazardous chemicals; flammable solvents (max size 2.5 litre bottles), open beakers of solvent within fume cupboards. Transporting bottles of solvents
- Frequent use of hand tools such as spanners
