About the Role

Allen & York is excited to partner with a family-owned business in the waste management sector as they seek an Environmental Sustainability Manager to join their team. The company provides waste management services to the construction sector, commercial premises, and local authorities, focusing on recycling and waste-to-energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the senior leadership team in developing and implementing the company's sustainability strategy, aiming for net-zero emissions and other sustainability goals.
  • Manage the delivery of Scope 1 and 2 targets, analyzing data and implementing initiatives to reduce carbon footprint.
  • Oversee the implementation of the Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with ISO 14001, reviewing material outlets, and setting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to achieve targets.
  • Manage two direct reports, requiring previous management experience and a passion for developing people and offering opportunities.
Requirements
  • Degree in an environmental discipline, combined with experience in Environmental Management and/or sustainability roles.
  • Experience working in the waste sector and knowledge of environmental legislation.
  • Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to engage with internal teams and external peers.
  • Proactive, commercially astute, and pragmatic approach to sustainability challenges.
