Senior Java Developer Team Lead
Salary: 60,000 GBP per year
At Workonblockchain, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer Team Lead to lead our Java engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of Java developers.
- Participate in the full development lifecycle, extending our Java-based web applications, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and well-tested code.
- Champion initiatives towards automation, continuous development, and continuous integration.
- Address 3rd line support issues and act proactively to reduce support requests.
- Lead investigations into performance issues within the technical stack.
- Understand security considerations of web applications and implement prioritized adjustments.
- Engage the technical operations team to meet both product and team resource needs.
- Write documents to influence team resourcing, such as job descriptions and statements of work.
- Produce detailed design documentation using Confluence.
- Recommend and implement architectural changes to align with modern development operations.
- Ensure continuous professional self-development.
- Prepare reports for external stakeholders regarding DORA metrics and delivery KPIs.
- Run Jira and Agile ceremonies.
- Work with the product manager to plan sprints and prioritize workload for team members.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of proven commercial experience as a Senior Software Developer or equivalent using Java 8+.
- Experience acting as Lead Developer on medium-sized agile scrum (Kanban) projects.
- Skills in developing and securing REST APIs using Java frameworks.
- Ability and enthusiasm to mentor and coach junior team members.
- Active participation in the Agile development team's periodic ceremonies.
- Knowledge of object-oriented software design principles.
- In-depth understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks for Java, including JUnit and Mockito.
- Competent with SQL databases such as SQLite and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Familiarity with Java FX or any Java UI components.
- Expertise in Java data persistence frameworks including JDO/JPA (or equivalent knowledge using Hibernate).
- Understanding of build tools, specifically Maven and Git.
- Comfortable using IDEs such as Eclipse or IntelliJ.
- Proficient in using source code repositories and tools such as GitHub, BitBucket, Git, and Visual SourceSafe.
- BSc/BA (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
