We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Java Developer to lead our team of engineers and drive the development of our Java-based web applications.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of Java developers.
  2. Participate in the full development lifecycle, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and well-tested code.
  3. Champion initiatives towards automation, continuous development, and continuous integration.
  4. Address 3rd line support issues and proactively reduce support requests.
  5. Lead investigations into performance issues within the technical stack.
  6. Understand security considerations of web applications and implement prioritized adjustments.
  7. Engage the technical operations team to meet product and team resource needs.
  8. Write documents to influence team resourcing, such as job descriptions and statements of work.
  9. Produce detailed design documentation using Confluence.
  10. Recommend and implement architectural changes to align with modern development operations.
  11. Ensure continuous professional self-development.
  12. Prepare reports for external stakeholders regarding DORA metrics and delivery KPIs.
  13. Run Jira and Agile ceremonies.
  14. Work with the product manager to plan sprints and prioritize workload for team members.
Requirements
  1. 5+ years of proven commercial experience as a Senior Software Developer or equivalent using Java 8+.
  2. Experience acting as Lead Developer on medium-sized agile scrum (Kanban) projects.
  3. Skills in developing and securing REST APIs using Java frameworks.
  4. Ability and enthusiasm to mentor and coach junior team members.
  5. Active participation in the Agile development team's periodic ceremonies.
  6. Knowledge of object-oriented software design principles.
  7. In-depth understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks for Java, including JUnit and Mockito.
  8. Competent with SQL databases such as SQLite and Microsoft SQL Server.
  9. Familiarity with Java FX or any Java UI components.
  10. Expertise in Java data persistence frameworks including JDO/JPA (or equivalent knowledge using Hibernate).
  11. Understanding of build tools, specifically Maven and Git.
  12. Comfortable using IDEs such as Eclipse or IntelliJ.
  13. Proficient in using source code repositories and tools such as GitHub, BitBucket, Git, and Visual SourceSafe.
  14. BSc/BA (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
