Head of Finance & Shared Services

The British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance & Shared Services to join their dynamic team. As a key member of the Leadership Team, this critical role will be responsible for developing and implementing effective financial strategies to drive the organization's growth and success.

About the Role

The Head of Finance & Shared Services will be responsible for ensuring the charity's financial compliance, governance, and risk management. This will involve working closely with the CEO and Trustees to enhance and improve the organization's governance functions. The successful candidate will also lead the statutory audit process, produce the Annual Report, and coordinate year-end processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the charity's growth and success
  • Ensure financial compliance, governance, and risk management
  • Lead the statutory audit process and produce the Annual Report
  • Coordinate year-end processes and ensure timely completion
  • Work closely with the CEO and Trustees to enhance and improve governance functions
  • Support the Chief Executive and Leadership Team with new business development and change management initiatives
  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and 3-year forecasts
  • Make recommendations to further develop the Shared Services function

Requirements

  • Qualified finance professional or equivalent experience
  • Senior-level finance experience, guiding and executing non-executive colleagues
  • Experience of producing and managing organizations' budgets and forecasts
  • Experience of financial modeling and development of KPIs
  • Line management experience
  • Ideal experience of charity accounting, including preparing statutory accounts for audit
