Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Advanced Clinical Pharmacist to join our Kirklees primary care mental health pharmacy team. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months, covering the maternity leave of the existing post holder.

Main Duties
  • Provide specialist mental health clinical pharmacy services for GP practices and service users.
  • Work alongside advanced clinical pharmacists and medicines optimisation technicians to improve access to information on mental health medicines and support appropriate prescribing and safe use of medicines.
  • Liaise with Kirklees Primary Care Networks and secondary care colleagues to support those with mental health conditions being managed in primary care.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction for the development of clinical practice within specialist mental health pharmacy primary care and across the Trust.
  • Lead on services consolidation and expansion in line with service and trust objectives.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • Band 7 or 8 qualification.
    • Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post.
    • Self-motivated with well-developed communication skills.
    • Experience of supervising and directing junior staff.
    • Computer literate including pharmacy systems, Microsoft office, and internet searching.
  • Desirable:
    • Specialist knowledge of mental health pharmacy.
    • Skilled in audit planning and delivery.
Qualifications
  • Essential:
    • Batchelor/Masters degree in Pharmacy.
    • GPhC registration as a Pharmacist.
    • Postgraduate qualification in clinical or mental health pharmacy or equivalent experience.
  • Desirable:
    • Membership of CMHP.
    • Membership of RPS.
Experience
  • Essential:
    • Completed pre-registration training.
    • Substantial demonstrable experience of working post-registration as a pharmacist.
    • Extensive experience of working within speciality Mental health pharmacy services at Senior (B7) level or above.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience of providing care to people with mental health problems.
    • Experience of provision of Medicines Information and associated systems.
