Key Responsibilities:

  • Building Control: To actively oversee and assure compliance with building safety regulations, including the Building Safety Act 2022 and Fire Safety Act 2021.
  • Application Management: To manage building control applications for all land uses, including buildings up to 20 storeys, and ensure efficient and high-quality service delivery.
  • Technical Support: To provide technical support and guidance to staff on building control matters, including record keeping and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Customer Focus: To deliver a customer-focused service that maintains market share and meets the needs of internal and external customers.
  • Continuous Improvement: To seek continuous improvement and apply skills and knowledge within the changing context of legislation and requirements.

Requirements:

  • Specialist Knowledge: Specialist knowledge of building control and appreciation of the processes in delivering the statutory building control service.
  • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of software packages, including MS Word, Excel, Building Control Applications databases, PowerPoint, and SAP.
  • Project Management: Understanding of project management concepts, practices, and principles gained through experience.
  • Local Government Context: Understanding of how services are provided in a Local Government context and political awareness.
  • Customer Orientation: Constantly strives to provide high standards of quality service to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Communication: Presents ideas in a well-structured format and in a manner appropriate to the context and the audience.
