About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Adolescent Support Worker to join our team at Coventry City Council. As an Adolescent Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and young people to remain at home, working closely with families to address complex and enduring needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive support to young people aged 8 – 18 and their families, usually over a period of 6 – 12 weeks.
  • Assess problems, develop measurable goals, and help the whole family acquire the skills necessary to achieve them.
  • Work closely with other agencies and local services to improve behaviours, relationships, confidence, aspiration, employability, living conditions, mental and physical health.
  • Take on a portfolio of cases, working directly with young people and families in their homes.
  • Complete an initial assessment and develop strong skills in delivering intensive interventions.

Requirements

  • Experience of working with children and families, with a minimum of a Level 3 NVQ in Children & Young People.
  • Ability to work with families in their homes, helping them make the necessary changes to stay together.
  • Flexible approach, willing to work on a shift basis that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Passionate about working with children, young people, and their families, with a reassuring presence and calm in a crisis.
