Job Summary

Mon Sheong Foundation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Support Worker to join our team at our Scarborough location. As a Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to residents, including assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Observe and report any changes in residents' emotional, social, behavioral, and physical patterns to registered staff.
  • Interact with residents, listening to their concerns and validating their communications.
  • Provide oral and dental care, maintain oral tissue integrity, and observe for problems.
  • Assist with adaptive aids, prosthetics, and mobility aids as needed.
  • Supervise and assist residents with feeding, including providing texture-modified food if required.
  • Implement universal precautions and isolation techniques according to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement emergency measures as needed.
  • Collect and monitor resident information.

Requirements

  • Secondary School Diploma and a Personal Support Worker Certificate from an Ontario postsecondary institution or district school board.
  • Valid CPR certificate and First Aid certificate.
  • One-year experience in a long-term care facility.
  • Medical certificate of good physical and mental health.
  • Demonstrated interest in working with elderly, with patience, kindness, compassion, and creativity.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (Day/Evening/Night) and alternative weekends.
  • Proficiency in oral and written English; bilingual in Chinese is preferred.
