About the Role:
Avara Foods, a leading food business in the UK, is seeking a highly competent and motivated Contract Production Manager to join our Agriculture team.
This role will be home-based, requiring regular travel to farms and offices in the UK. As a Contract Production Manager, you will be responsible for managing the live production of broiler chickens from a group of contract farms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, build, and enhance key relationships with contract broiler producers.
- Ensure the integrity of Avara's business by working in collaboration and close partnership with farm owners and staff.
- Provide and/or facilitate technical support required by farms.
- Contribute commentary, insight, and data on market trends and challenges to further the continuous improvement and overall performance of production areas.
- Communicate and interact with internal and external stakeholders of all levels.
- Organize and prioritize time and resources for areas requiring the greatest improvements.
Requirements:
- A sound understanding of poultry farming, including up-to-date knowledge of animal welfare standards, poultry housing, equipment, feed, ventilation, and bird health.
- Ability to adapt your management style to influence and motivate contract growers.
- A commercial understanding of the impact of actions on different stages of production and budgets.
- Strong organizational skills to plan and prioritize workloads.
- Knowledge of audit processes would be advantageous.
- Previous management experience and a commitment to development.
