At the Bank of England, you will be part of a dynamic directorate responsible for supervision, policy and technical risk analysis on financial market infrastructure.

The Financial Market Infrastructure Directorate (FMID) is at the heart of the Bank, overseeing essential components of the UK financial system, including payment systems, central counterparties, and central securities depositories.

You will join a team that delivers outstanding work in a collaborative environment with strong links to other parts of the Bank and international regulators. Your role will involve reviewing financial risk models of supervised financial market infrastructures, focusing on market risk models used by central counterparties.

Your primary responsibilities will include investigating target models, analyzing their quantitative performance, assessing model risks, and presenting findings to stakeholders. You will also contribute to regular CCP supervisory stress tests and provide risk expertise to supervisors and policy analysts.

This role offers an opportunity to develop your skills in supervision, policy development, stakeholder management, and financial risk analysis across various teams within FMID and the wider Bank. You will have the chance to influence important supervisory decisions and present your judgements at senior statutory committees.

Required Skills
  • A methodical approach to investigation and analysis, even with limited data and information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain technical concepts to senior management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess model risks.
  • Familiarity with market risk models, such as value-at-risk models.
  • Knowledge of standard financial markets and instruments, like interest rate swaps and equities.
