Key Responsibilities- Assess initial applications and additional medical evidence to make informed underwriting decisions.
- Manage the end-to-end customer journey, from application stage through to decision.
- Handle complex cases and referrals while supporting less experienced team members.
- Liaise with customer services, sales, reinsurance partners, and medical officers to ensure seamless communication.
- Stay up-to-date with industry and market changes to continually improve underwriting practices and skills.
- Experience working within a Medical Underwriting Team and making accurate assessments of medical evidence.
- Ability to underwrite for multiple Protection product lines.
- Understanding of underwriting manuals and processes.
- Knowledge of Protection products requiring underwriting input.
- Maintain underwriting knowledge with industry and market changes.
- Inquisitive and customer-centric approach with the ability to think outside the norm and challenge existing processes.
- Effective communication skills to interact with all types of customers and contribute to a team delivering service excellence.
- Ability to work to deadlines and manage own workload, prioritizing cases when required.
- GR1 or other industry-recognized qualification (desired).
