About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Underwriter to join our team at Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (AJG). As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in delivering profitable premium and conversion growth across our Professional Indemnity book.

Key Responsibilities
  • Underwrite and assess risk in accordance with our underwriting philosophy, rules, and guidelines, utilizing rating tools and pricing methodologies to maximize business growth and profitability.
  • Actively seek new business opportunities within existing relationships and the wider insurance market.
  • Provide expert underwriting guidance, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced underwriters, helping them build product-specific knowledge and sales skills.
  • Develop and maintain strong broker relationships across regions, contributing to our team's goal of writing a sustainable portfolio of professional indemnity business.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
About You
  • Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification is preferred.
  • You have a working knowledge of the local insurance marketplace and can demonstrate an ability and desire to learn about our enterprise and business unit's critical business issues and financial drivers.
  • You have general knowledge of organizational and regulatory rules, policies, and procedures and effectively employ that knowledge in your day-to-day work activities.
  • You possess basic analytical thinking and financial acumen, identifying current or future problems or opportunities, analyzing, synthesizing, and comparing information to understand issues, identifying cause-and-effect relationships, and exploring alternatives to support sound decision-making.
