Job Overview

The UK Health Security Agency is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Risk Specialist to join its team. This role will involve providing expert advice on the health effects of chemicals in drinking water, contaminated land, and waste processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Providing toxicological advice on chemical risk assessments, national chemicals regulation, and human biomonitoring
  • Collaborating with regional RCE chemicals teams in England and Wales to provide advice and support during contamination incidents involving chemicals
  • Developing advice on the public health impacts of chemical regulation in collaboration with UK Government departments
  • Conducting critical assessments of toxicity data on chemicals

Requirements

  • Relevant Bachelor's or Master's qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience in a similar field
  • Knowledge and practical experience of chemical risk assessment, regulatory toxicology, or exposure science and human biomonitoring
  • Excellent scientific report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and accurately for diverse audiences
  • Able to critically assess literature data and other information relevant to assessing the toxicity of chemicals

About the Role

Salary

An estimated salary of £40,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
