CME/FAP Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled CME/FAP Officer to join our Education Services team at West Berkshire Council. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective management of children missing education (CME) and children who are at risk of becoming missing (FAP).
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough investigations and assessments to determine the educational status of children
- Developing and implementing intervention plans to support children's educational engagement
- Providing expert advice and guidance to schools, parents, and carers on matters related to attendance and welfare
- Collaborating with external partners to promote the welfare and safeguarding of children
To excel in this role, you should have:
- A deep understanding of relevant legislation, including the Education Act 1996 and Children Act 1989
- Experience in education welfare, with knowledge of attendance monitoring and intervention strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities, enabling you to manage a varied caseload
