About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Meat Cutter. As a key member of our butchery team, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of butchery production, packing, and cleaning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the butchery team with meat production, packing, and cleaning.
  • Prepare meat and products for sale.
  • Assist with butchery displays and ensure signage is accurate and attractive.
  • Perform general retail duties.
  • Greet and interact with customers, providing advice, answering questions, and accepting orders or payments.
  • Assist in strict stock control rotation.
  • Accept deliveries of large carcasses, which may involve heavy lifting.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation controls.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times.

Training and Development

We offer on-the-job training and the opportunity to develop your skills in the meat industry. You will work closely with our experienced team to learn the skills and knowledge required to succeed in this role.

Requirements

  • Good standard of English and Maths.
  • Food Hygiene Level 2 (desirable).
  • Excellent communication, organisational skills, and ability to build strong working relationships with customers and the team.
  • Good attention to detail and passion for food.
  • Physical fitness and strength, as the role involves some lifting, carrying, and working in cold environments.
  • Trustworthiness.
  • High standards of appearance.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to produce accurate work to tight deadlines under pressure.
  • Flexible approach to working hours.
  • Keen and enthusiastic approach to working both in a team and independently.
