Histopathology Specialist

The Histopathology Department at Poundbury Cancer Institute is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Histopathologist to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive histopathology reporting service, including cut-up, reporting, MDT attendance, R&D activities, and teaching.
Main Duties:
- Contribute to the diagnostic histopathology service
- Partake in multi-disciplinary team meetings
- Act as lead Histopathologist for at least one specialist area
- Take part in clinical audit, research studies, clinical governance, and teaching
- Participate in histopathology EQA schemes and continuing professional development
- Carry out teaching, examination, and QA duties
Clinical Care:
The post holder should be trained in all aspects of general histopathology and non-gynaecological cytology, with a special interest that complements the existing consultants.
- Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge
- Development of sub-specialty interests
- Participation in clinical audit and continuing medical education
- Providing evidence-based care in a multidisciplinary setting
- Conducting suitable duties in cases of emergencies
Management and Leadership Responsibilities:
The post holder will support the Clinical Lead in policy and strategy development, contribute to the leadership and development of histopathology, and ensure effective communication and involvement of staff across PCI.

Professional Responsibilities:
The post holder will participate in continuing medical education, subscribe and maintain GMC registration, and participate in EQA schemes and continuing professional development.
