Job Title: Director of Education and Employability

The Teaching Personnel team is collaborating with a Charitable Trust to establish a new Alternative Provision in Rochdale. The Trust is seeking a Director to lead this initiative on a permanent basis, ideally commencing in January.

This role will be responsible for establishing the foundation of a new Community Interest Company (CIC), founded by the local community trusts to deliver education and employability programmes for Rochdale. The CIC will focus on providing unregistered alternative provision, with a special emphasis on science and sport for young people aged 9 – 16, as well as a flexible employability programme for those 16 – 25.

The Director will play a leadership role in overseeing a cohesive programme for young people in Rochdale, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. The post holder will be expected to contribute to other projects outside their remit to support the Trust's activities as a whole, including contributing to overall strategy and development for the Trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Deliver Ambitious Strategy: Formulate, develop, and deliver a strategy that is well-evidenced and meets the CIC's public benefit purposes.
  • Ensure Quality and Performance: Implement appropriate systems and controls to effectively manage and monitor the quality and performance of programmes, and demonstrate/evaluate the impact.
  • Funding and Business Development: Develop and deliver a funding model and business plan to ensure a long-term future for the CIC.
  • Staffing and Performance Management: Develop, implement, and manage an appropriate staffing structure for the CIC.
  • Risk Management: Monitor and minimize all risks that may endanger the CIC's reputation, operations, and financial position.
  • Community Engagement: Lead on raising the profile of the CIC with senior leadership in Rochdale schools and develop strong relationships.
  • Communications and Awareness: Develop a communications strategy to cover all relevant channels and develop awareness and the reputation of the CIC to drive recruitment to programmes.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: Educated to degree level, NVQ level 4 or other equivalent experience, with at least 5 years' office-based or school-based experience.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of office systems and procedures, including computer skills in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Leadership and Communication: Proven experience in strategic and business planning, programme management, and building high-level relationships with diverse stakeholders.
