Job Title: Assistant Director

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Assistant Director to join our Waste Management team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to our Waste and Recycling teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop staff to ensure the effective provision of waste management services.
  • Support the Director in delivering high standards throughout the Waste & Recycling teams.
  • Attend council committee meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Manage budgets and resources to drive value for money and improve customer service.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local waste disposal authorities and stakeholders.
  • Oversee waste services, including waste collection, vehicle maintenance, and availability of bins and sacks.
  • Support staff development and training to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in delivering commercial opportunities within the public sector.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement solutions to complex problems.

Please note that the postholder will be required to attend evening and occasional weekend meetings and events.
