Geotechnical Professor

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Geotechnical Engineering Group at the University of Sheffield as a Professor of Geotechnical Engineering. The successful applicant will be a research leader with a strong track record of interdisciplinary collaboration and a passion for delivering high-quality teaching.

The Professor of Geotechnical Engineering will contribute to positioning the Geotechnical Engineering Group at the forefront of geotechnical research, innovation, and impact, nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will have a strong physical/centrifuge modelling background, an interest in low carbon/nature-based solutions, offshore geotechnics, and infrastructure performance and resilience.

• Conduct world-leading research in geotechnical engineering, leveraging our substantial laboratory facilities.
• Develop and deliver a high-quality geotechnical syllabus integrating climate change challenges, digitalisation, and multi-disciplinary working.
• Contribute to the development of the Geotechnical Engineering Group's research strategy and direction.
• Supervise and mentor PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
• Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange with industry and other stakeholders.
