Orbex is a leading micro-launch company that requires a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Head of Systems to oversee the development and launch of our Orbex Prime vehicle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Systems Authority for a complete stage of Orbex Prime, responsible for propulsion, structure, avionics, and integrated stage testing.
  • Lead the Systems team, collaborating with the Head of Department to set and implement strategic goals.
  • Provide insights and suggestions for departmental growth and development.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and manage projects in the absence of the Head of Department.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience as a system authority for a highly complex and multidisciplinary product, such as for spacecraft, launch vehicles, defense, or aviation.
  • Experience in mechanical systems, flight structures, avionics, complex electronics, and propulsion systems.
  • Ability to take initiative, communicate openly, and collaborate with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Capacity to thrive in an international, diverse, and multicultural environment.

Location:

The role is based in Forres, Scotland, at Orbex's headquarters, with the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, startup culture and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Scottish Highlands.
