Job Title: Transport Planner
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Transport Planner to join our team at Reed. As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for resourcing and effectively forward planning all company resources, utilizing Company and/or third-party resources when required.
Main Responsibilities:
- Resource Planning: To forward plan all own fleet Day 1 for day 2, ensuring to consider Cost, Compliance, and Customer requirements.
- Reloading and Optimization: Plan the reloads for all own fleet and traction subcontractors, ensuring consideration to driver compliance and reduce empty mileage as much as possible.
- Day-to-Day Planning: Ensure all focus is on day 1 for day 2 planning, working with the transport operator to provide updates on any same-day changes.
- Load Planning: Ensuring all Farm load plans are sent through accurately and in a timely manner.
- Vehicle Mapping: Forward Vehicle mapping, looking forward to the weeks allocation of vehicles and ensuring the fleet is resourced correctly with drivers and report any empty resource to the Transport Manager to backfill with agency.
- Driver Management: Update planning sheet for driver's L/C, and start/finish days for all traction subcontractors (to be completed on day 1 of shift).
- Route Optimization: Allocate the full plan onto road runner, to be supported by the Transport Administrator between 16:00-18:00.
- Compliance and Safety: To manage driver's hours ensuring that all considerations for daily and weekly rules and regulations are accounted for.
- Maintenance and Service: Forward plan with Fleet ensuring that all Trucks and trailers are planned in for maintenance and service as early as possible, and plan equipment back to depot when required.
- Training and Development: To assist Transport Manager in Driver training by planning allowances for Drivers in the office when required.
- On-Call Responsibilities: On call is required by transport Planners and Transport Operators for their 1st 2 of 4 shifts, this includes having the office phone diverted to work mobile, dealing with all enquires and issues in their entirety and amending the plan accordingly to ensure all service levels are maintained.
Expectations:
The company requires all planners to ensure that all decisions and changes are with the company's best interests at the heart.
To work in advance of the next day plan, forward planning for as far in advance as possible, looking forward to driver shifts, subcontractors, and expected loads (i.e., promotions and peak days).
When trying to source extra subcontractors, a generic 'send to all email' is ok, however a phone call to all contractors is required to ensure all avenues have been exhausted.
Provided all work is completed to a high standard, all loads are covered, and related administrative tasks are completed in full, then you may leave the office before your contracted finish time.
