About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SHEQ Manager to join our team at Gist Limited. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and assurance on health and safety, occupational health and well-being, and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with the General Manager to ensure compliance with relevant legal, IMS standards, and ISO requirements at designated sites.
  • Provide competent health, safety, and environmental advice to site leadership teams and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the implementation of SHEQ strategy and initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Conduct site-specific safety audits and inspections, and identify corrective actions or emerging risks.
  • Lead incident investigations and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain accurate reports on key issues and progress against the Gist SHEQ Strategy.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Transport teams to drive a standard and consistent approach to safety.
  • Mentor and coach operational managers to ensure SHEQ compliance and improvement.
  • Manage and support the launch and implementation of SHEQ team project initiatives.
  • Oversee emergency planning and arrangements, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, and minimum Grad member of IOSH (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of SHEQ principles and practices.
  • Proven experience in a health and safety management role within a medium or high-risk industry.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Logistics/Distribution sector, including familiarity with materials handling equipment (MHE).
  • Experience in accident and incident management, and investigation skills.
  • Self-starter with a drive to deliver results with minimal day-to-day guidance.
